Double Scoop

Double Scoop
Sock pattern by Dotlikesred

Tools:
Fingering weight yarn approx 400 yards/ 300 of one color and 100 of contrasting color
I used Reynolds Soft Sea Wool (no longer available)
1or 2  Balls MC
1 Ball CC
2 size 1, 8 inch circular needles (or preferred size 1 for sock knitting)
1 size one dpn
1 size 3 don
For a single scoop only use one color, of course! 
Gauge
of 7.25 st/in in stockinette

Abbreviations:
k= knit
k2tog= knit two stitches together
m1= (for this pattern) make one by picking up right leg of stitch below, placing on needle and
knitting it through
the back loop
p=purl
p2tog=purl two together
skp=slip one stitch, knit one, pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch
sl= slip stitch
tbl= through the back loop
tfl=through the front loop
w&t= wrap and turn:
from knit side: yfwd, slip st from left to right needle, ybk, return st to left needle, turn work
from purl side: ybk, slip st from left to right needle, fwd, return st to left needle, turn work
wyif = with the yarn in front of the needle
wyib= with the yarn to the back of then needle
yfwd= yarn forward or yarn to the front
ybk= yarn back
y/o= yarn over

figure 8 cast on:
this is an easy cast on for toe up socks: place two dpn one behind the other.  place a slip knot (the first c/o) st on the needle in the back, weave in a figure eight pattern over each needle (eg: under then over front needle, then behind and over back needle) until you have required number of sts.  Carefully begin...



Begin Toe:
Using contrasting color, cast on 28 stitches using figure 8 cast on over 2 circular needles
Row 1: Knit across back needle
Row 2: Turn so the front needle is now in back and knit across those stitches.
Place marker and join into a round
Round 1: Front needle (needle 1) k1, m1, k to last stitch on needle, m1, k1. Back needle (needle
2) repeat as for first needle. There is now a total of 32 stitches
Round 2: Knit
Repeat last two rounds until there are a total of 60 stitches. (7 more times)
Knit 10 more rounds plain.
Break contrast color and attach main color at beginning of next round
Divide sts evenly around: half for top of foot; half for bottom of foot
Knit one round in main color.
Begin knitting in pattern for top of foot (needle 1)
Knit plain for bottom of foot (needle 2)

Foot:
Round 1: knit 1 round MC
Round 2 and for length of foot:
k in chart pattern as above for top of foot, (needle 1)
k plain stockinette for bottom of foot (needle 2)
For size 6 knit to 6 inches
For size 7 knit to 7 inches
For size 8 knit to 8 inches etc...

Heel
Continue knitting top of foot stitches in pattern from chart
Needle 1: (Top of foot) knit from chart pattern
Needle 2: (Bottom of foot/heel):as follows:
Row 1: k29, w&t
Row 2: purl 28 (to last st) w&t
Row 3: k to 1 before wrapped stitch , w&t
Row 4: purl to 1 before last wrapped stitch, w&t
Continue rows 3 and 4 until there are 9 wrapped stitches on each side (12 unwrapped in the
middle)
End with a wrong side completed
1. RS, k 12 to first wrapped stitch, pick up and knit the wrap together with the stitch, and wrap
the next stitch by: yfwd, sl stitch to right needle, yb, return stitch to left needle(it will now be
double wrapped), turn
2. WS: purl to first wrapped stitch, pick up and purl wrap along with stitch, wrap and turn the
next stitch by: ybk, sl1 to right needle, yfwd, return stitch to left needle (it will now be double
wrapped), turn
Repeat rows 1 and 2 knitting and purling the double wrapped stitches by picking up both wraps
and knitting/purling along with the stitch, repeat until all wrapped sts are picked up
Note: For this pattern I picked up the knit wraps from the front and knit all together through the back loop. The purl wraps were picked up from the back and purled through the front loop.
Heel Stitches:
On the last knit row: sl 1, k to last stitch, p/u wraps and k tog tbl
On the last purl row: sl1, purl to last stitch, p/u wraps and p tog
Needle 2, k across needle 2 and  p/u knit 2 stitches in the gap and keep on heel needle
Top of Foot Stitches:
Needle 1, top of foot stitches: knit from chart
 p/u and k 2 sts in the gap (use extra size 1 needle if necessary)  and place on needle 2,
 k across to last three sts bottom of foot, k2tog, k1

Reduction Rounds:
Round 1: Needle 1 k pattern from  chart; Needle 2: k1, skp, k to end
Round 2: Needle 1: knit pattern from chart: Needle 2: k1, skp, k to last 3, k2tog, k1
Ankle
Continue knitting from chart for top of foot stitches and knit plain for heel stitches (now
ankle) until row 12 of chart is completed
Leg
Begin knitting chart all around (needle 1 and 2) until 4 chart repeats are completed

Cuff
Knit 3 rounds of k2,p1 rib
Switch to CC and knit 1 inch (12 rows) of k2, p1 rib
Finishing
Bind off in rib pattern using size 3 dpn
Weave in ends.

Kitschen Cloths

Kitschen Cloths

Little kitschy cotton washcloths with texture enough for good scrubbin’!

Tools:
Needle(s) of choice to obtain gauge.  I used a size 6  circular.
Two colors of worsted weight 100% cotton yarn.  These will be A and B according to  your preference.

Gague: 5 sts to the inch


Pattern Notes:
Slip the first two stitches of each row as follows
Right side: slip the first two stitches purl-wise
Wrong side: slip the first two stitches knit-wise
Slipped stitches within pattern are slipped purlwise

Knit the last 2 stitches of each row

Begin:
Cast on 39 stitches.
Knit 2 rows (slipping stitches as indicated above) in color A
Begin pattern

Pattern:
Rows 1 and 2, color A: Knit across
Row 3, color B: (slip the first 2 stitches purlwise) *k1, sl1 (purlwise).  Repeat from * to last 3 stitches,  k3
Row 4, color B: (slip the first 2 stitches knitwise) *k1, yfwd, sl1 (purlwise), ybk.  Repeat from * across to last  3 sts, k3.
Rows 5 and 6, color A: Knit across, slipping first 2 stitches as indicated.
Row 7, color B: (slip the first 2 stitches purlwise) *sl1 (purlwise), k1.  Repeat from * to last 3 sts, sl1,  k2.
Row 8, color B: (slip the first 2 stitches knitwise) *yfwd, sl1 (purlwise), ybk, k1. Repeat from * to last 3 stitches, yfwd, sl1, ybk, k2.

Continue in pattern for 6 1/2 inches or desired length.

Knit 4 rows of color A (slipping first two stitches as indicated).  Bind off.

Puck Hat and Scarf




Puck 

This is basically the same structure as the Califairisle Hat.  However, it comes out quite differently with the Rowan Kid Classic.  Very soft and feminine.

Hat:
Gauge: 22 sts=4inches
Needles Size 6US circular and dpns
Yarn: Rowan Kid Classic one ball each of lavender and moss




Abbreviations:

c/o= cast on
St(s)=stitch(es)
k= knit
p=purl
k2tog = knit two stitches together (decrease by one)
m1=make 1 by inserting tip of left hand needle front to back into horizontal yarn between stitch on left hand needle and stitch on right hand needle
kfb= knit into the front and back of the stitch (for this pattern, this will be done mainly on the m1)
RS= right side
WS= wrong side




Hat


Ear Flaps:  Make 2

c/o 5 sts moss
Row 1 K2, kfb, k2 (6sts)
Row 2 purl
Row 3 lavender:k3, m1 and k into fb of this st, k3
Row 4 k2, purl to last 2, k2

Continue as above, knitting 1/2 the stitches and making 2 by picking up the thread between and kfb of this st, then k the other 1/2 of the stitches. Repeat until there are 24sts.  
At the same time, switch between moss and lavender every 2 rows.

Last 2 rows: (lavender)
row 1: k2, purl to last 2, k2
row 2: k1 row 
You are now at the end of a right side row:
On first flap, leave tail long enough to c/o 40sts, break yarn and place live sts on scrap yarn or holder
On second flap, leave tail long enough to c/o 10 sts, break yarn and place live sts on scrap yarn or holder.

Using lavender c/o 10 sts onto circulars.
Knit on first ear flap on RS, last stitch will have tail enough to c/o 40 sts.  Using this tail and main yarn c/o 40 sts 
Knit on second ear flap as first, using tail and main yarn to c/o 10 sts
Total 108 sts

Join and k 1 row lavender before starting ribbing.

Ribbing:
 *k1 (moss), p1(lavender) repeat from *across
Continue ribbing for 1 inch

Body of hat:
Knit 9 rounds moss
Knit 9 rounds lavender
knit 9 rounds moss
k 9 rounds lavender
k2 rounds moss
k2 rounds lavender

Begin Decreases as follows:
moss: *k4, k2tog, repeat from * around
moss: k 1 round plain
lavender: *k 2 plain rounds
moss: *k3, k2tog, repeat from* around
moss: k1 round plain
lavender: *k2, k2tog, repeat from * around
Switch to dpns, dividing sts evenly among 3 needles
lavender: k1 round plain
moss: *k1, k2tog, repeat from * around
moss: k 1 round plain 
lavender: k 1 round plain
lavender: k2tog around
lavender and moss held together: k2 tog around
Pull both lengths of yarn through stitches and cinch closed.  Weave in ends.

Finishing:
Attach fringe or braid as desired.

Gauge: 10st= 2 inches in k1p1 ribbing

Yarn: Rowan Kid Classic in lavender and moss (you will have enough even after making the hat)
Brown Sheep Co. Lambs Pride worsted in  white

Needles: Size 10

c/o 10 sts in moss
Pattern:
 RS: sl1, * k1, p1, repeat from * across row
 WS: repeat RS
Knit  pattern 12 inches in moss
Knit pattern 12 inches lavender
knit pattern 2 1/2 inches moss
knit pattern 12 inches white
knit pattern 2 1/2 inches moss
knit pattern 12 inches lavender
knit pattern 12 inches moss
bind off, weave in ends.
Wrap around your cute little Puck!










Holly Day Scarf

Holly Day Scarf

A shorter, soft, elegant scarf perfect for the holidays.

Gauge: About 4sts/in

Needles: size 8US



Yarn:  2 Balls Plymouth Yarn Sin City in Jade

c/o 16 sts
Row 1 k
Row 2 k
Row 3: k2, *k1, yo, k2tog , repeat from * to last 2 sts, k2
Row 4: k2, purl to last 2 sts, k2
Repeat rows 3 and 4 until yarn is nearly used up (about 3 feet)
Knit 2 rows and bind off.  Weave in loose ends.

Shark Scarf

Shark Scarf

A very warm, long scarf!
Gauge:  About 3.5sts/inch in stockinette

Needles: Size 10US

Size: about  66inches long/4.5inches wide

Yarn: 1 strand each
Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted Wool
1 Ball each in 3 colors of your choice.  This scarf used: cream, black and teal for the San Jose Sharks


Using one strand of each color cast on 18 stitches
Keeping one strand each color K2 P2 ribbing every row until 66 inches (or desired length)
Bind off.
Weave in ends.

Buckle Peerie
Row 1:k3CC, *k1MC, k7CC repeat from * across to last 5 sts: k1MC, k4CC
Row 2: k2CC, *k3MC, k5CC repeat from *across to last 6 sts: k3MC, k3CC
Row3: *k3MC, k1CC repeat from * across
Row 4: repeat row 2
Row 5: repeat row 1



Gauge: 22sts=4in stockinette

Yarn: Nature Spun Worsted: 2 or more colors of your choice (1 ball each)

Repeat until there are 24 stitches as RS row is finished.

Purl one row as in row 4.
K one row.
Leave tail long enough to cast on 40 stitches, then break yarn.   Place stitches on piece of scrap yarn or holder.

Second Ear Flap

On circulars, cast on 5 stitchs using long tail cast on

Row 1 (RS): k2, kfb, k2 (6 sts)
Row 2 (WS): purl
Row 3: k3, m1 and kfb this st, k3
Row 4: k2, purl to last 2, k2

Continue as above, knitting 1/2 the stitches and making 2 by picking up the thread between  and knitting into the front and back of this stitch, then knit the other 1/2 of the stitches.  Purl on the wrong side, knitting first and last 2 stitches as in row 4.
Repeat until there are 24 stitches as RS row is finished.

Purl one row as in row 4.
K one row.
Leave tail long enough to cast on 10 stitches, then break yarn.   Place stitches on piece of scrap yarn or holder.


Main Hat


On circulars,  cast on 10 stitches using long tail cast on
Knit first ear flap onto needles from RS ear flap (you will begin with stitch without the long tail and end with stitch with long tail)
At the end of the row use the long tail with ball yarn to cast on 40 stitches using long tail cast on

Knit second ear flap onto needles as above, using tail to c/o 10 stitches using long tail cast on method

Join and knit one round.

MC: k1, p1 rib x 1 inch

Rounds 1-3 MC: k 3 rounds plain (k every stitch)

Rounds 4-8 k sawtooth pattern in CC (5 rounds)
 All stitches are knitted.

Rounds 9-11 k 3 rounds plain in MC

Rounds 12-16 k sawtooth  pattern (5 rounds)

You will need to decrease as follows before beginning buckle peerie.  This will slightly decrease the circumference but should not make significant difference in the overall size or appearance of the hat:

Round 17 *k25, k2tog  repeat from *around in MC once (104 sts)

Rounds 18-22 k buckle peerie * (5 rounds)

*Note that colours will be reversed in the buckle peerie with the MC forming the pattern and the CC forming the background.  


Round 23 *k25, m1 around MC once (108sts)

Rounds 24-28 k sawtooth pattern  (5 rounds)


Rounds 29-31 k 3 rounds plain MC

Rounds 32-36 k sawtooth pattern  (5 rounds)

Rounds 37-38 k 2 rounds plain MC

Begin Decreases:

Round 39 (k4, k2tog) around

Round 40 k1 round plain

Round 41 (k3, k2tog) around

Round 42 k1 round plain

Round 43 (k2, k2tog) around

Switch to dpns dividing sts evenly over 3 needles

Round 44 k1 round plain

Round 45 (k1, k2tog) around

Round 46 k2tog around

Pull yarn through stitches and cinch closed

weave in ends.



Finishing


Add braid or fringe to ear flaps.  Add blanket stitch if desired.
